The draft One Lawton Comprehensive Plan is the result of two years of collaboration between City staff, consultants, and community members. Through workshops, surveys, and stakeholder meetings, residents helped shape a vision that brings together land use, transportation, economic development, and quality-of-life priorities for Lawton’s future.
The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to provide a tool for, and serve as a guide to, the City Planning Commission and City Council when making land use and other development-related decisions in Lawton. One component of the Comprehensive Plan is the Future Land Use Map🔗 , which illustrates the vision the City of Lawton has for the development of different areas within the City.
Key strategies in the Plan include targeted redevelopment areas such as the Cache Legacy Corridor and Downtown Lawton, expanded housing opportunities, improved walkability, and reinvestment in existing neighborhoods. The Comprehensive Plan also emphasizes neighborhood revitalization, quality-of-life improvements, and infrastructure investments aligned with the Directions 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.
